Sweet milk tea with chewy tapioca pearls — a Taiwanese invention turned global craze. It was created in Taichung in the 1980s, with both Chun Shui Tang and Hanlin Tea Room claiming to be first. The joy of sucking the pearls up through a fat straw has since conquered the world.
